Where the intensives take place

Every in-person event on the 2026-27 Important Dates page is listed at 6805 Bobcat Way, Dublin, Ohio. That address is the Dublin Integrated Education Center, an 86,000-square-foot building the College of Health Sciences and Professions opened in Central Ohio in April 2015.

Older pages tell a different story. The OCI description page, last revised in 2021, still calls MSN intensives "required visits to our Athens, Ohio, campus," and DNP pages name Athens or Dublin. An April 2024 version of the dates page still placed the pre-clinical workshop in Grover Center on the Athens campus. The dated table is the current source, so plan on Dublin unless your course faculty say otherwise.

Orientation now happens online. The MSN orientation is a half-day virtual conference and the DNP orientation a two-day virtual one, though the handbook page still links the two ideas: the Graduate Nursing Student Handbook acknowledgment form is handed out "during orientation (first OCI)."

Two OCIs or three? Ohio University's pages disagree

Count the visits on different ohio.edu pages and the totals do not match. The FNP and PMHNP courses pages say there are three OCIs. The FAQ sections on the FNP, PMHNP, AG-ACNP and certificate pages say two, while describing them as falling at the beginning, middle and end of the program. The 2021 OCI page lists three for FNP students (orientation, clinical and final), but orientation has since moved online.

The dated table gives yet another picture: the pre-clinical NRSE 7230 visit plus one clinical visit per track, placed in the first practicum for FNP and AG-ACNP students and in the final practicum for PMHNP students. The courses pages, for their part, attach clinical workshops to "the first and final clinical courses."

For planning, count on the pre-clinical visit and at least one clinical visit, and leave room for a second clinical visit in your track. Ohio University's OCI page commits to posting dates three or more months ahead; revisit the dated table every term, and ask your course faculty if you think your practicum carries a visit the table leaves out.

Planning clinical days and preceptor schedules around a visit

Clinical OCIs land inside the practicum they belong to. In fall 2026, a term that opened 08/24, the NRSE 6843 visit came in week three, the NRSE 6840 visit in week five and the NRSE 6848 visit in week twelve. Each practicum carries 250 hours, about 17 a week over 15 weeks, and the MSN FAQ expects 2 to 3 days a week at the clinical site. Two days in Dublin plus travel can swallow most of a clinical week.

1. Mark the dates firstCopy your course's OCI dates into your calendar as soon as your advisor sets your program of study.
2. Raise them with your preceptor earlyShare the Dublin dates in your first conversation, before the two of you settle on a weekly pattern of clinical days.
3. Bank hours before an early visitWhen the visit falls in the opening weeks, as the NRSE 6843 and NRSE 6840 visits do, add a few clinical hours beforehand so the trip leaves no gap.
4. Count travel as time awayIf you live in a distant approved state, the day before and after a two-day visit may be travel days too.
5. Check again before each practicumLook at the Important Dates page once more before the term starts, alongside your clinical packet deadline.
