NRSE 6845: the summer finish and its catalog quirks
NRSE 6845, Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Practicum III, closes the AG-ACNP track in summer with 250 hours built around advanced clinical judgment inside an interdisciplinary team. It is also the practicum Ohio University lists least consistently: the catalog names the wrong requisite, one web course list leaves it out, and one catalog page drops its hour label. None of that changes what the course asks of you, but it helps to know before a registration question comes up.

Four places the listings disagree
Ohio University publishes NRSE 6845 in several places, and they do not all match. Here is each discrepancy with the reading that fits the rest of the program.

The requisite line is the one most likely to cause friction, for instance if a registration check reads it literally. Your advisor, who handles your registration each term, and your course faculty are the people to correct it. For the retake conflict, read failing or repeating a clinical course rather than relying on either line alone.
Judgment, decisions and the team
The catalog describes 6845 as a course on role "competencies and proficiencies in the acute care setting," with the emphasis on "advanced clinical judgment and decision making" inside an interdisciplinary team caring for adults with complex conditions. Compared with 6844, the team is now the setting rather than the lesson; the lesson is making the call.
A preceptor who fits lets you form the plan, defend it on rounds and adjust it as the patient changes, with supervision suited to a final-course student. The settings stay those of Ohio University's MSN FAQ, from critical care to inpatient medicine to the emergency department, and the AG-ACNP program page describes supervision by acute-care physicians and advanced practice providers. Summer only: packet, windows and term dates
On the tentative course offerings table, NRSE 6845 runs in summer and in no other term. Summer 2027 runs 05/10–08/14/2027, and its clinical packet is due 03/08/2027, while students in the standard sequence are midway through spring NRSE 6844.
Summer windows at the large Ohio systems close earlier still. Ohio University's list puts Holzer at 12/31/2026, Cleveland Clinic and Mount Carmel at 2/28/2027 and OhioHealth at 3/1/2027; the hospital system applications page explains each process. Premier Health, on its own page, runs a waiting list with a December 31 deadline for May to August rotations and gives its employees priority.
Put simply, start the summer search in late fall rather than after spring break.
What the final course carries forward
From NRSE 6844 comes the team-based acute care work and, often, a unit that already knows you. The course is the last of three 250-hour practicums, and the AG-ACNP catalog pages close the program with a comprehensive program exam, for MSN and certificate students both. With no later AG-ACNP practicum to absorb a shortfall, plan the 250 hours with some margin before the term closes on 08/14/2027.
Finishing tasks for a summer 6845

- Plan for a summer finish without a summer ceremony: Ohio University's graduation page lists no commencement at the close of summer semester.

Is there an intensive in 6845?
Ohio University's FNP courses page, speaking of its APRN programs generally, ties the clinical skills workshops to "the first and final clinical courses." For AG-ACNP, though, the tentative course table marks only NRSE 6843, the important dates page lists no 6845 date, and the AG-ACNP FAQ puts the track's total at two, the other being the NRSE 7230 pre-clinical visit.
Treat the posted table as current and confirm with your course faculty. Any added visit would be announced at least a quarter-year ahead under the Knowledge Center's publishing rule, which for a summer course means notice during spring. Why does the catalog list NRSE 6847 as the requisite for 6845?
It appears to be a listing error. NRSE 6847 is PMHNP Practicum II, while the Knowledge Center's course offerings place 6845 after NRSE 6844 in the AG-ACNP sequence: fall 6843, spring 6844, summer 6845. If the requisite line blocks registration, ask your advisor and course faculty to correct it.
Is NRSE 6845 missing from the AG-ACNP program?
No. The 2026-27 catalog lists it in both the MSN AG-ACNP and the post-master's AG-ACNP certificate. The ohio.edu AG-ACNP courses page leaves it out of its course list while still describing 11 courses and 40 credits, which only adds up with 6845 included. Can I take NRSE 6845 in fall?
Not on the tentative course table, which lists it for summer only. The whole AG-ACNP clinical sequence runs once a year, so your program of study will place 6845 in the summer after spring 6844. If your plan has changed because of a withdrawal or a delay, talk to your advisor about a new program of study.
Can I complete 6845 in another state?
Ohio University's graduate students live in its approved states and complete practicum hours locally, so yes, provided the state's own rules are met. Some states add conditions; Illinois, for example, requires the APRN student and preceptor there to hold an Illinois RN license, according to Ohio University's licensure disclosure. Will I graduate in summer after 6845?
For MSN AG-ACNP students on the standard sequence, the final practicum falls in summer, so graduation follows that term once every requirement, including the comprehensive program exam, is met. Ohio University's graduation page confirms there is no summer commencement, and the application has a published deadline you must meet.
